چکیده
The Diffuse Interstellar Bands (DIBs) are absorption features seen in the spectra of astronomical objects, that arise interstellar medium. Today more than 500 DIBs have been observed mostly optical and near-infrared wavelengths. origin unclear; only ionized buckminsterfullerene C$_{60}^+$ has identified as a viable candidate for two strong three weaker DIBs. In this study, we investigate correlations between strengths strongest well their environmental behaviour. Therefore, analysed measurements at 9577 9633 $\r{A}$ 26 lines sight. We used different methods, including Monte Carlo simulations, to study influence measurement errors on correlation coefficients. Furthermore, examined how strength changes result conditions, measured by concentration H/H$_2$ ambient UV radiation. contrast results recently reported Galazutdinov et al. (2021), find high also discovered behaviour correlated bands is quite distinct from other 5780, 5797 6203 environments.

On correlations between diffuse interstellar bands
One way to better apprehend the problem of diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) is to search for correlations between the bands in a large sample of spectra towards various lines of sight: a strict correlation may imply that a common carrier is at the origin of the bands, whereas a non-correlation means that different species are involved. We propose this observational test for 10 DIBs collected i...
متن کاملRejection of the C Diffuse Interstellar Band Hypothesis
Using the new high-resolution (∼8 km s ) echelle spectrograph on the 3.5 m telescope at the Apache Point Observatory, we have begun a high-sensitivity survey of the diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) in a large sample of reddened stars. Now that we are 2 years into this long-term survey, our sample includes over 20 reddened stars that show at least one of the DIBs that had been suggested to be c...
متن کاملFormation of buckminsterfullerene (C60) in interstellar space.
Buckminsterfullerene (C(60)) was recently confirmed as the largest molecule identified in space. However, it remains unclear how and where this molecule is formed. It is generally believed that C(60) is formed from the buildup of small carbonaceous compounds in the hot and dense envelopes of evolved stars. Analyzing infrared observations, obtained by Spitzer and Herschel, we found that C(60) is...
متن کاملII . Top - down branching , nanoparticle fragmentation and the mystery of the diffuse interstellar band carriers
The origin of the diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs), one of the longest-standing mysteries of the interstellar medium (ISM), is explored within the framework of The Heterogeneous dust Evolution Model for Interstellar Solids (THEMIS). The likely nature of the DIB carriers and their evolution is here explored within the framework of the structures and sub-structures inherent to doped hydrogenated...
متن کاملInfrared Emission from Interstellar Dust. Ii. the Diffuse Interstellar Medium
We present a quantitative model for the infrared emission from dust in the di†use interstellar medium. The model consists of a mixture of amorphous silicate grains and carbonaceous grains, each with a wide size distribution ranging from molecules containing tens of atoms to large grains km in diameter. Z1 We assume that the carbonaceous grains have properties like polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbo...
